Description

Proton is a composite particle, so its spin is expected to
be the sum of spins of the proton constituents. However, European Muon
Collaboration declared in 1988 that there was a big discrepancy between the
proton spin value(= 1=2) and the sum of the spins of the partons (quarks and
gluons) the proton consists of. This result was so surprising that it was named
Proton Spin Puzzle aka Proton Spin Crisis. The new wave of interest to this
problem arose when the RHIC data confirmed existence of the discrepancy.
I discuss the present state of this problem and ways to solve it.
