Description

This paper considers the possibility of carrying out an experiment to search for EDM at the NICA collider and the upgraded Nuclotron structure using the idea of quasi-frozen spin, previously developed by the authors, based on separating the functions of the electric and magnetic fields to conserve the direction of the polarization vector in a ring that was not originally intended for measuring EDM. The novelty of the new approach is that the proposed experiment will be carried out on the upgraded Nuclotron structure, which will allow studying the EDM of both deuterons and protons. Wien filters, which provide the quasi-frozen spin mode for studying EDM, in the mode with a change in the spin precession frequency along the ring, open up the possibility of searching for an axion at the Nuclotron in a wide range of masses. All this makes the NICA complex a unique platform for precision tests of fundamental symmetries in particle physics
